May 24, 2021 - May 30, 2021 Hello readers. You ever have one of those blink-and-you'll-miss-it weeks? I've been keeping a bullet journal for 6 years. I've listed every movie, TV show, concert, headache, intimate event, and every work-related item. The idea is that you can keep track of the progression of your life. Know where your time is going. Plan your time in advance in some cases. But you can look through these journals and see time compressed into pages rather than hours. A year is quick flip. You get really upset, but remind yourself that time passes. It is out of your control. You choose how to fill your time, but eventually it will be a few pictures in your phone. If you're lucky certain moments will pop back into your memory and give you joy again and again. Other moments will fill you with deep remorse and flood you with sadness. But these times too will pass. But that's not what I came here to tell you about... This Week In Film where I create a weekly ...

April 26, 2021 - May 2, 2021 Hello readers. It's May. It's one of my favorite times of the year with the exception of Halloween month. May is my wife's birthday. I get to lavish her with gifts which is exciting. But more important, instead of us curating our films together, we watch anything of her choosing. It feels good to sit back and enjoy. As these films are her favorites or what she's in the mood for, she's calling all the shots.  In reading that, why do I always cringe with the statement, 'my wife?' It sounds like ownership and if anyone knew our relationship, they would know that nothing is further from the truth. My partner sounds better because you lose the weight of the term wife...

April 12, 2021 - April 18, 2021 Hello readers. What a sh*t storm of a week we've had in Chicago! The Civilian Office of Police Accountability released all the videos associated with the police shooting of 13 year-old Adam Toledo. Video #1 BWC1-Shooting Officer shows officer Eric Stillman chasing after Ruben Roman and then after Toledo. When the kid stops, the officer tells him to turn around with his hands up. As the kid complies, raises his hands, and turns around, the officer shoots him. Officer Stillman runs up to the child and asks where he's been shot and attempts to help, but it's too late. Most media outlets are torn on how to report this. Some networks will lean on the fact that a gun was found mere feet away from Toledo. Other networks will lean on the fact that Officer Stillman attempts to assist directly after he makes the mistake. I've talked to older officers who remember a time that you had to actually be shot at in order to return fire - what a simpler ...
