We've flown through another month. We were given a literal Friday The 13th of August and a few great theatrical experiences before Delta decided to shut the world down again. Prior to the next collapse of society, we traveled out to Denver to see some old friends. As the world  teetered  between mask or no mask rules, we mainly stayed in and caught up. We shared some Jason films, hung out with our pup nieces, visited a horror themed bar, and took comfort in one another's company. We hadn't seen each other since before Covid. The visit was short, but everything

This last week I devoured Are You In The House Alone?   A TV Movie Compendium 1964-1999  edited by Amanda Reyes. You'll see I've been trying to do my TV Movie homework. Katie, the wife, is obviously a little annoyed by it. And maybe you will be too, but lets face facts, you'll just skip over them if you get frustrated. Katie is less fortunate. I've tried telling her what I've learned from Amanda Reyes' work that these 1970's to 1980's films were restricted by being on television which meant that they had to be creative in other ways. This restriction lead to a lot of the films being weird or turn into issue films that didn't hide their politics in subtext but laid it all out. I love how you never know what

I did an ungodly amount of research about Cannon films and Orion films. The characters in my book were curating battling film festivals. One festival was celebrating Cannon and watching New Years Evil, Lifeforce, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Highlander, Missing In Action, and Masters Of The Universe . The other festival celebrated Orion films and the characters watched Silence of the Lambs, The Town That Dreaded Sundown, Monty Python’s Life of Brian, Caddyshack, First Blood

You know that feeling that nothing you do matters and why keep up that writing habit. Nobody cares. That infectious idea that you don't matter, is so powerful. Even if you actively try to suppress it. Even if you don't actually believe it. It can still take over. This time I just had to say, "F*ck You!" to my feelings of inadequacy. What else can you do? They are always going to plague you. Some days you can get out of bed and beat the negative into submission. Other days it beats you, but
